Ascent Trip Report

This is a nice hike that is not technically difficult. We hiked from the Wilderness Boundary following an old ATV track for a couple miles, crossing the creek a dozen times. After about 2 miles we lost the trail because some cows were playing a practical joke and rerouted the trail into a brush patch. We crossed the creek to the right side and picked up the real trail again. Cow humor is not funny at times.

We made a backpack out of this hike and camped next to the creek at the bottom of the ridge. The next morning we hiked up the steep ridge encountering lots of talus between 8500 and 9500 ft. Nothing technical, just tedious. Once up to the main ridge at 10,000 ft it was not difficult to follow the ridge all the way around to the summit. There were about 10 rocky bumps to avoid or hike over on the way to the summit. Beautiful weather, great views.
