Ascent Trip Report3-Day, 2-night backpacking trip to the Big 5/Little 5 Lakes region of Sequoia National Park, out of Mineral King. Day 1 - Trail head and headed 6 miles up to the Franklin Lakes Basin camp. Day 2 - Franklin lakes over Franklin Pass - hitting Florence Peak along the way (dropping our packs at the base) and then hiking a long 25-ish miles to the Little 5 Lakes Region. Quick side trip to Big 5 Lakes (trail stopped at Lake 3..... beautiful!). Spent the 2nd night near the Ranger Station on the Little 5 lakes (across the lake). Day 3 - Little 5 lakes back to the TH at Mineral King - going up and over Blackrock Pass and making our way down.... and then up and over ? Gap and down to the TH. Storm clouds on Day 3 - it off and on rained on us, but nothing too serious. GREAT Backpacking loop - loved it!
