Ascent Trip Report

This was Brian & mine last hike of the week....We set out last sat with a quest of doing all 10 4,000 footers in the are & today we accomplished our quest :-)
The day was perfect temps in the 30's not a cloud in the sky....When we got to the TH I realized that I had forgotten my camera ...Today of all days :-( ...So thanks Brian for letting me steal your photos .
We had to cross to rivers right at the start as the bridges were gone .1st I rock hoped 2nd I put on my crocs & forged across .Boy was that water cold ..hid my crocs & continued up ...The trail up to the campsite is fairly gradual ...after that it picks up but not that bad...we got to the slide & the views were unbelievable remember I forgot my camera :-( ....We could see the summit but it seemed we just couldn't get there. We finally got there & the views kept getting better.
The tower on the top is now tipped over ..Looks like it was done ..took a few photos & just south of summit is a rock formation & we choose to have lunch there ..Brian found a perfect rock seat or more like a throne .We took off our boots had lunch sat back & enjoyed the views from our 50,000 star restaurant & a great meal of PB&J sandwich jerky with granola bar dessert ...the food was great .I most definitely recommend this restaurant...We had the summit to ourselves...On way down at the slide we saw 2 hikers going up
Brian & I really enjoyed the hike down today as the trail is gorgeous & we knew we had accomplished our goal & we could rest tonite & tomorrow
Had a great week in the Rangley area with a good friend....Had a great time now on to Katahdin , Hamlin , North Brother & Old Speck :-)
