Ascent Trip Report

Started from the West Eagle Meadow CG on a cold morning after fresh snow had fallen higher in the peaks overnight. Hiked the West Eagle Trail #1934 to the junction with the Tombstone Lake Trail #1943 and followed the latter trail to the 8100' pass above Tombstone Lake, noticing cougar paw prints in the fresh snow on the way. From here I traversed open country and brush through fresh snow across the south face of Peak 8772 and up the west face of Echo Lake NW Peak, scrambling over some rocks on the upper north ridge to reach the summit. Clouds were sweeping through the mountains, but no additional snow fell and eventually the skies cleared for my descent the same route.
