Ascent Trip Reportholy crap we did it!!!! All six Mts. for the 6er challenge are done' this was the roughest one of all and we took the shorter route using the jackrabbit ski trail 3.6 miles up compared to 5.2 using ray brook rt.(which we took to do haystack) it started off going uphill right from the jump but its a road sized trail and was easy going for the most part until you hit the junction with the trail from rt. 86 then it gets steep and then very steep and muddy a couple of false summits then you reach the real summit covered in trees with only 2 small viewing areas one to small to even sit down on and the other packed very disappointing after that hike we retreated back to the 2nd false summit and ate lunch there this hike has the worst views for the work that you have to put into it than any Mt. I have done yet. The best part of the whole hike is the placid lean too on the jackrabbit ski trail. Very happy we finished the challenge the same way we started it all of us together. Later |
