Ascent Trip Report

Another 3:30 am start to head out to the central Rockies. Planned on getting Grays and Torreys via the standard Grays Peak trail at the end of Stevens Gulch Road right off I-70. Got up the high-clearance road (people who take their cars up this are nuts - scraping plus the suspensions aren't designed to tolerate that much travel)., by 6:30 am and arrived at a nearly full parking lot. Started from the car and hit the creek before crossing the footbridge and recorded an elevation on ~11,300 on my GPS.

Fairly easy hike up with not too much traffic. We deviated from the standard East Face approach and ended up doing a fairly easy class 2- scramble up the northern ridge.

About 20 people on the summit with fantastic views of the Gore, tenmile, Keystone, Front Range. Could see all the way from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak and maybe even some of the Sawatch range.

Headed to Torreys Peak next....
