Ascent Trip Report

Left the Pinos parking lot at 5am under headlamps, temperature in the upper forties, low fifties. Wind, lite out of the west, southwest. Sky, crystal clear full of stars. Reached the Mount Pinos summit by first light, 5:30am. Then down into the Sawmill saddle at sunrise. Perfectly still, quiet, blue sky and a orange lite on Sawmill summit. The sun was rising. So up to that Sawmill summit by 7:00am. Temperature now up to the sixties, wind picked up out the west. I ambled my way up Grouse mountain by 9:30am, finally peaking out on Cerro Noroeste by 11:00am. Temperatures had peaked as well, now into the upper eighties, low nineties with a constant west wind at 10 to 20 mph. But a beautiful blue sky day, no clouds, convection. Out and back, with each peaks hike to the summit is about 15 miles, with just under 4000 feet of elevation gain. An awesome Sunday.
