Ascent of Baldy Peak on 2014-08-15
|Date:||Friday, August 15, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||8378 ft / 2553 m|
Ascent Trip ReportOn an open access long weekend at the Davis Mountains Preserve by The Nature Conservancy. Signed in, drove 5 mile Madera Canyon Road to trailhead. Another group of two and group of 7 were starting around the same time. Sunny day and we missed the afternoon showerstorms. Most of the steep parts of the trail are below the Limpia Chute trail junction. Except there is a rock scramble for the last 200 vertical feet or so just before summitting. Summit was enjoyable but really a bit of a knife edge. Summit had hundreds / thousands of lady bugs! Descent ws tough on the quads.
