Ascent Trip Report

Wonderful day for a wonderful hike at Col del Nivolet, between Piedmont and Aosta Valley. Two of the usual friends, gaijin and kima, plus my girlfriend from Brescia in this special occasion, one of the highest peaks where no gears are required.
No major problems from Col del Nivolet to Col del Leynir, just above 3000 m. On our way up we encountered a first problem when we hit a not-so-easy part of the trail, with vertical rocks and exposed terrain (we later found this section to be avoidable).
Just above this section, at 3200 m, my girlfriend started to feel sick and I have to walk her down to Col del Leynir, while kima and gaijin continued their ascent. Kima offered to carry my backpack to the top: he'd leave it there for me to pick up when I reached the top.
As soon as Monica felt better I left her there and resumed my ascent. I crossed paths with kima on his way down: gaijin also was feeling sick at the top so he'd leave him there. I would go up and walk down with him while kima would walk down with Monica.
The descent has been excruciating, for gaijin more than for me, though I started feeling sick on my way down, too (my usual headache-while-descending).
At the end it has been a great but very demanding hike.
