| Elevation:||5162 ft / 1573 m|
Ascent Trip Report7:30am start from official trailhead. No cheating by driving logging roads. Trail in very good condition and in shade much of the way, which was good for a day predicted to top out in the mid 80's. Dry ground all the way to the summit. Very few other hikers on this day, especially for a Saturday. Perhaps due to the aggressive nature of the trail: 3700 ft elevation gain in 4.5 miles.
Summit pyramid has an initial exposed face that needs to traversed to gain the top. This is a short pitch of Class 3, but does have considerable exposure, and should not be underestimated. Many route descriptions fail to mention it entirely or simply say "can be treacherous when wet". I would say "be careful regardless".
On this day, the weather was spectacular as were the views from the summit. Other summits sighted and noted from the top: Baker, Stuart, Rainier, Adams.
