Ascent Trip ReportI have wanted to hike to the top of this one for quite a while and although this mountain only has 578' of prominence, it is very obvious from highway 40 as you go north of the Strawberry Reservoir. I accessed it by driving Indian Creek road on the south of the Strawberry Reservoir and found a spot where I could park my truck and leave my wife in a shaded spot. I then struck out cross country through the thick undergrowth often found in groves of Aspen. In a few spots, animal trails helped out but for the most part it was just a bushwhack most of the way. The top is rounded and has great views in all directions with a central benchmark placed in 1957 and the name "Thistle" on it. I had planned to do some other peaks in the area but the lesser roads I tried were a bit too muddy for my comfort level. Round trip from where I was parked and through the brush was about 2 hours which included the time on the summit. There was no register (didn't expect one) but I did build a small cairn near the benchmark marker.
