Ascent Trip Report

May 26, 2014
Mt. Arab
It was kinda rainy this morning so we postponed our start time. It stopped raining now, still cloudy and with a gazillion black flies Gudrun and I started up the trail toward the tower at 10:10 am. We got to the tower at 10:40, the trail is a bit wet and muddy, but that is expected after the rains. This tower is very interesting, the fire warden’s hut has been restored and has been made into a mini museum. It was staffed today so we did have a history lesson which is very interesting as we visit all the towers still standing in the Adirondacks. The tower is in great shape, even the cab windows are still intact.
After visiting the tower, the hut, finding 3 benchmarks and getting the history lesson we headed back down the mountain at 11:20 am and reached the parking lot at 11:50am. It was a bit cloudy but the views were still nice, there is an open ledge that provides views from the ground and of course there are great views form the top of the tower.
