Ascent to Dobbs Camp on 2014-07-19
|Date:||Saturday, July 19, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||No Summit Goal|
| Elevation:||7300 ft / 2225 m|
Ascent Trip ReportPlanned to take Forsee Creek Trail to Anderson Peak for conditioning. All the permits were gone except Momyer and Fish Creek. We had the Honda Fit, so took the Momyer. Decided to take the right fork at the Wilderness Boundary to check out the Alder Creek campsite and Dobbs Camp. Because of the change in plans we didn't have a map. Turns out that after reaching the trail fork, the trail to the camps (which eventually comes out at Dollar Saddle) roller coasters between 7000 and 7200' for several miles. We got a total of 12 miles and 3000' gain, but never got above around 7300'. Dobbs Camp is the nicest along this route (per the rangers). There were bear tracks and rangers had seen a bear that morning. Supposed to be a nice waterfall below Dobbs Camp.
