Ascent of Blue Mountain on 2014-07-25
|Date:||Friday, July 25, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||USA-New Hampshire|
| Elevation:||3720 ft / 1133 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI did the full loop of West Castle, Castle, Notch, Gore, Blue and West Blue. The route also follows Brown Rd. plus the logging road on the South side of West Blue and the logging road north of Castle West Peak.
This strikes me as a northern NH version of the Pemi Loop (except that there aren't any trails to follow on this loop). At about 12 miles, this loop is much shorter than the well-known 30+ mile Pemi Loop in the White Mountains, but a lot of people would probably need about the same amount of time to complete this loop as they would the Pemi. This loop is tough for very different reasons.
