Ascent Trip ReportCamped in the Alabama Hills. Picked up permits, got a late start (10:30) from the Portal.
Made camp at Upper Boy Scout Lake and spent the afternoon leisurely enjoying the sunshine, views, and lake.
Left at 8:50 am the next morning by heading up the scree slope and took a break at the top of it.
Reached the saddle between Russell and Carillon around 11:20.
We were sheltered from the wind on the East Ridge. The climbing and rock quality was excellent.
One of my favorite peaks ever.
Summited around 1:15. Met two climbers on the summit who has just completed the fish hook.
Descended the same route back down to the saddle and headed straight up Carillon.
Carillon was a super fast jaunt. It was quite windy on the summit. Views of the Tulainyo Lake were incredible!
Running down Carillon straight back to and down the scree slope took no time at all, and we were soon back at Upper Boy Scout.
