| Date: | Monday, March 18, 2013 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | Peak: | Terril | Location: | Spain | Elevation: | 3704 ft / 1128 m |
Ascent Trip ReportWe walked up the track running in an easterly direction as far as a finca named Cabreriza. We crossed the arroya and walked up its eastern side until the path disappeared. We then made our way onto the ridge in more difficult terraine keeping clear of thorny undergrowth. Once on the ridge we followed it to the summit which afforded a good view point. The summit was marked by a pillar which appears on the map as a trig point. On the descent, shortly after leaving the summit, my husband twisted his ankle. After a short interval he felt able to continue the descent and he was glad of having his walking poles with him. We tried to retrace our steps using great caution but route finding was difficult. Our descent was perforce slow and the light was failing as we rejoined the track at the finca. Stuart's injury turned out to be a serious sprain, so this was our only ascent this Spring in Spain. |
