Ascent Trip Report

Did the Williams / Fitch / Greylock loop via Money Brook, the AT, and the Hopper on a pleasant and warm Thursday in June. Parked on Hopper Rd and set off on Money Brook at 10:30am. Trail conditions were somewhat muddy with some bugs. We took our dog who took advantage of the many little pools in Money Brook up to the falls.

When we reached the AT, we took a detour north for 0.2 miles to tag Mt Williams and sign the logbook. Views were clear into southern VT. Then went south on the AT and bagged Fitch and Greylock. Met a couple thru hikers on the latter. One was a girl heading southbound and the other was a guy who left Harpers Ferry three weeks previous (that's a great clip - around 25 miles a day). We gave them both some of our food for a little bit of trail magic. Ran into some overweight slobs in minivans who obviously drove up.

Refilled all our water containers at the water spigot behind Bascom Lodge and then headed south on the AT. Picked up the Hopper shortly thereafter, which wasn't nearly as muddy as money brook and made it back to our cars a couple hours later. Gorgeous day on the mountain(s) and worth going on a weekday to avoid all the typical traffic on Greylock in the summer.

Took us 6 hours to get from the Hopper to Greylock and then 3 hours back to our car.
