Ascent Trip ReportHike 26 miles from the S on good Pasayten trails to approach the peak. Then an easy 27th mile of off-trail finish on grassy slopes above tree line will get you to the summit. Return the same way, for a RT total of 54 miles.
Sadly, the summit views are marred by clearcuts and roads very nearby to the N in Canada. When I say nearby, I mean very nearby like within two or three miles. The roadbuilders have torn up the area by the Ashnola River Road and on the ridge to the W of that river in pursuit of timber. They've put in roads just to the NE of Park Pass very close to the border clearcut line. You could even hike N on the trail from Sheep on the W side of the peak to get a close look at all of those roads and clearcuts because if you hiked out towards Park Pass you'd practically be to these roads. It's quite sad to see those roads close to a peak that requires such great effort from all US approaches. Very sad.
