Ascent Trip ReportOne week ago my wife and I trudged to the top of Mount Golden Eagle only to discover later that I was holding the TOPO map south instead of north. This error resulted in our summitting the twin but false peak. My bad.
In climbing the peak a second time, I thought I would scout around to the south along an ATV trail to see if there is a more pronounced route to the top. With no route found, I decided to venture up the eastern face by following the prominent wash. This wash turned out to be a much easier (cleaner) wash than it's northern sister. A simple traverse to the saddle between the twin peaks. Ledge systems are easy to spot and I soon found myself on the summit. No summit cairn or registration exist.
My return trip created a loop by traversing on the western face, below the false summit, then picking up the regular route down the northern wash and back to my car.
