Ascent Trip ReportI followed Dennis Poulin's directions and parked on BLM road 17-7-34 where it intersects Highway 126 at Cougar Pass. I left my vehicle in an open area on the west side of the open gate near 126 with the intention of riding my mountain bike to the summit. Just beyond the open gate is a sign that states that "unauthorized motor vehicles are not permitted on the road," but that "non-motorized vehicles are permitted," though camping and fires are also prohibited. Good thing I brought the bike.
The road is easy to follow. Just stay straight and in about 2 miles you'll see where to veer right toward the summit. My GPS read the summit at 2.25 miles.
