Ascent Trip ReportFrom where Eubanks meets Old 86 follow the latter another mile north to arrive at the trailhead which is Duke Forest Road #35. No advance warning of this TH/road. Hard to see the TH for the trees. Directly across from the TH is another dirt road with many a POSTED sign. Construction abounds as well.
At the trailhead not much room to park a car. Space for one on either side of forest road right before the gate. Road is signed Bald Mountain. This track does not actually go to the summit. Just follow it as it meanders into the forest bending left and then right eventually passing a couple of
homes on the left. About 200 yds past the second house, head uphill. Understory and brush are not a problem. Proceed to the flat summit. A couple
boulders vie for top rock.
A prominent tree has an ascending sequence of nails and boards. Perhaps 40 feet above you can spot the remains of a Tarzan swing. May be some good views up there, but on the ground, no. About a mile and a half round trip, class one hiking.
