Ascent Trip Report

A swift late afternoon ascent after attending an engineering presentation by my son in Sheffield. Parked in a lay-by on the A628 a few miles west of The Flouch Inn and took a more or less direct southerly approach across the undulating and virtually trackless Langsett and Harden Moors with GPS/altimeter in hand to the equally featureless high point (plus some contender high points on adjacent peat hags). Made the mistake of not donning my usual Pennine footwear of Wellington boots and returned to the car with my feet predictably soggy. Reasonably warm, although with a brisk wind and near 100% cloud cover, but no rain and extensive views. The walk highlight was seeing a pair of mountain hares in mixed winter and summer coats, an interesting piebald pattern.
