Ascent Trip ReportThis was my 200th county high point! I used the TRs from COHP from Wallen (2000), and Schwartz (2002) and the TR from Poulin on Peakbagger. The reports are excellent, one point of clarification the cattle guard at 12.3 miles you have to fork left on FR 261 which has a visible sign for Poland Road. The low clearance car I was using wasn't the best suited to drive this part of the road but going slowly it was manageable. I decided to park at 7,400' at a large circular turn out so that I'd have a nice 3 mile round-trip run. The first 3/4 mile was pretty gentle climb to the gate. Then the last 3/4 mile climbed 380' to the top. I spent 5 minutes on top checking out the view, the benchmark, and the fire tower. I was greeted by a brief snow shower! I zipped down to the car, in all with the break on top I was only out there for 45 minutes but it was a perfect day with an excellent view.
