Ascent Trip ReportMt. Whitney Trail from Whitney Portal. Huge storm came in just as we were leaving the summit. The next morning the switchbacks were totally covered in snow and the summit and high trail were covered in a whiteout. Started raining at breakfast and we finally broke camp in heavy rain as it appeared to be getting worse.
The road down to Lone Pine was covered in rocks and large boulders that had come down during the storm. Fortunately, I was able to manouver around them.
My first backpack. Not enough space to list all my mistakes and the incorrect equipment in my 50+ pound backpack. Plus all the pounds added in the pouring rain.
