Ascent Trip Report

Ken and I hiked Hotaka Range for 3 days backpacking trip.
On the 1st day, we left Kamikohchi, and camped at campsite at Mt Spear (besides summit of Mt Spear).
Next morning, we woke up, ate breakfast then peakbagged Mt Spear.
Right after this, we started to head South to go through Hotaka Range.

My original plan was to go to Hotaka Range, and stay campsite near Oku-hotaka.
However, weather was a bit iffy. Cloudy and dark clouds started to cover Hotaka Ridge. We had to go through one of toughest part without having good visibility. It slowed down our hiking pace. Plus, we had big backpack with full camping gear. It made us more difficult to go over very steep ridge (I can say it's knife's edge) We had to go on ladders and metal chains. And finally we had to alternate our hiking plan. But anyhow, we reached to Hitahotaka successfully.
