Ascent Trip ReportQuick winter hike. Started from the ski haus on a clear warm morning. Temps were already in the mid 30s. A quick hike up the Crawford Path with Andy and Jamie was mostly without views. We saw only two small groups on the trail on the way up. Just before the treeline we saw 2 Grey Jays looking for food. Jamie obliged them. Once we reached the summit area we saw many large groups, some 10+. It was a beautiful day and we were able to spend some extra time hanging out on the summit taking pictures and having a snack. Views out over the presidentials were clear and the sun was shining on the dome of Eisenhower. The hike down was fast, less than 1 hr. The whole trip took about 3 hrs. Snowshoes over soft snow all the way on this one. The trail was well packed down but it was very deep just off the trail. |
