Ascent Trip ReportKelley and I started at the 3,000' high point along Highway 190, where there is free camping at an old, abandoned RV park, then followed DPS Route A except that we climbed up the drainage course just west of the start of the ridge to a 4,600' saddle, then followed DPS route A to the top. The drainage course is easy walking to the saddle, and avoids what appears to be extra effort along the lower ridge recommended in the DPS guide. We saw about 15 Bighorn Sheep at about 4,100' on the way up. |
