Ascent Trip ReportWe did a late afternoon into early evening Point to Point hike starting at the Douglas/Garvey Parking lot and ending at the Dunfield Creek parking lot. 8 miles on the nose. It is about 1000' climb in 1.25 miles from DG parking lot to Sunfish pond. Nice conditioning climb. From there we took the Tammany Fire Road. Along the fire road, just after sunset we came across a pack of coyotes. It was great. They howled and carried on for about 1-2 minutes before disappearing into the forest. We were with in a 100-150 yards of them. Since we were down wind they had know idea we were there until we startled them and the howling began. It was awesome! After that we made the summit about 6:10 and were back to the cars at 7pm. Total time 3 hours, 8 miles. Nice evening hike. |
