Ascent Trip ReportWe started the hike from the Loj at 9am. We made it to Marcy Dam very quickly. The water was frozen except for it being a little soft near the edge on either side so we crossed there instead of heading down to the new bridge below the dam. We headed up the trail and were at the junction for Phelps and continued on to the turn for Tabletop just before Indian falls. The snow wasn't that deep so we so it was a little steppy up to the summit of Tabletop. We were both tired from our failed attempt of East Dix (Grace) the day before so this section of trail seemed to go on forever. We made good time on the way back down to the Phelps junction. Neither of us were really feeling motivated to go up Phelps but we didn't want to come back just for that peak so we went for it. Again it was a little slow going and felt longer than it should have but we made it to the summit. Again making good time we made it out the parking lot a few minutes after 4pm. |
