Ascent Trip Report

Hiked this along with Muddy Peak. The access road is pretty washed out and rocky in spots but any high clearance vehicle should be fine. We hiked the ~2.6 miles cross country to the base of the mountain in 1 hour, then headed up a slope west of the main chute. The terrain was all loose, sharp rock. After a couple of short class 3 sections we were on a ridge and could see the traverse we had to make over to the high point. We reached the summit in just under 3 hours. The register was a small pocket notebook dated October 8, 1978.

It took us approx. 1 hour to retrace our steps back down to the saddle and start our ascent of Muddy Peak. It was a steep climb up loose rock, but it got a lot better once we reached the ridgeline. Once on the ridge, there were numerous class 3 sections including the long climb up to the summit itself. We left the summit right at noon and were back a the TH just after 2pm, for a total of just over 7 hours of hiking. 12 miles roundtrip with over 4600ft of total gain. Awesome day.
