Ascent Trip Report

Left the Visitor Information Station about 9:30am and followed the Humu'ula Trail up with a section of road nearing the summit. Clear sky above but clouds were moving in below and partially obscured views of Mauna Loa. Windy and cool on the summit - I was glad for my pile cap, gloves, and Windstopper jacket. Although people sometimes ski the summit I only saw a few thin spots of dry snow sheltered behind rocks just below the summit. Finished my Western US States High Points project this day.
