Ascent of Cedar Mountain on 2013-11-12
|Date:||Tuesday, November 12, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2543 ft / 775 m|
Ascent Trip ReportMost of the road from Rt 6 is paved, then it switches to rougher pavement at the Elk County border. Finally the last few miles are on dirt roads. It had snowed over night, so I was a bit concerned that The Great Explorer would get sketchy with her new Ford Escape, but she was a trooper. I had her park short of the sharp turn because there was a convenient pullout. DON'T do this. Go all the way to the corner. I tried to find the trail marked on the topo, and fought through snow covered laurel for 10 minutes, just to find the road that I SHOULD have parked on! Once I had the road, it was an easy 15 minutes up and back to the car.
