Ascent of Richmond County High Point on 2013-11-10
|Date:||Sunday, November 10, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Richmond County High Point|
| Location:||USA-North Carolina|
| Elevation:||620 ft / 188 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThe Parsons cemetery is such a pretty hilltop that I wanted it to be the HP, and I appreciate Fred Lobdell's logic in declaring it so. However, the Richmond County GIS map (https://www.richmondnc.com/165/GIS) shows a spot elevation of 625 at the cemetery vs. 630 in the town of Norman. The highest ground I could find in Norman is north-northeast of Norman Methodist Church, which is on West Moore Street west of McLeon Ave/US220 Business.
A little further north, the 620 spot on Cemetery Road is a liner that can almost certainly be ruled out.
This was my 122nd COHP and 45th in NC.
