Ascent Trip ReportGreat three day hike started near Climber's Ranch with friends from England and my college roommate Eric. Hiked through the morning stopping often for pictures and water. Took a nice, cold swim at Lake Taminah about noon. Between Taminah and Snowdrift look to the north along the trail for the huge choke stone. It's the size of a bus and holding back tons of rock. Pitched at Snowdrift Lake that afternoon and had another chilly, but wonderful swim. The next morning we decided to take a little jaunt. Headed nearly straight up the saddle through the snow then walked around the south side of the mountain and a little scramble up a rocky trail. The front side looks almost straight down to Lake Taminah. The pictures of Eric and me at the top make us look like pin pricks. Glissaded back down the snowfield before packing up and heading toward Kit Lake. We then went up over the divide and around the Grand to Cascade Canyon. Took the ferry across Jenny Lake and hitchhiked back to our car. |
