Ascent Trip ReportPierce and Jackson June 1, 2013 Dad and I started up the Crawford Path at 09:40am under a gorgeous sunny day. Mom is going to drive down the road and head up the Jackson-Webster trail. If all goes well we will meet at the summit of Jackson later today. We reached the Mizpah Hut cut-off at 11:00 am, it is getting very hot and this being our first hike of the summer it is pretty tough. We reached the summit of Pierce at 11:50am. There is a bit of a breeze on top, but the bugs are pretty thick and yucky. But we did stay long enough for a quick sandwich and then we continued on our way to Mt. Jackson. We reached the Mizpah Hut at 12:30 and we went inside to look around for a few minutes. Dad even bought a T-shirt. We got to the top of Jackson where Mom was waiting for us. We had the summit to ourselves and the breeze was nice, but the bugs were horrible so we didn’t stay very long. We finished our hike at 3:50 pm. It felt good to get back in the mountains, but my legs sure were sore by the time we got to the car! |
