Ascent Trip ReportI'd been in this area around 1991 and my parents and I took the tramway, but did not actually summit on that occasion. This time I was determined to change that, and this party of three (myself, my now ex-wife, and a mutual friend) made it here just fine.
Even in mid-summer the air here in nice and brisk, and given that we were visiting here from Phoenix, this was a welcome respite from the desert heat. Birds seen included lifer Williamson's Sapsucker in the nearby conifers -- wrong time of year for rosy-finches of course so I'll clearly have to make a return trip in the future.
In summer, this is about as easy as highpointing gets -- just have a decent passenger car, take the quick stroll out to the physical summit, and you're good as gold.
It almost feels like cheating. |
