Ascent Trip ReportPeak # 2 of 3 on a Plan B day in the Angeles National Forrest, including Lewis-Williamson-Waterman (start of Hunting Season in CA prevented us from safely hiking our original peaks of Monument, Cajon, Bailey, and Sugarpine_.
Pieced together a quick series of hikes along the Angeles Crest Highway from the 15 - in order to still have a great day of hiking, but also nab a few HPS peaks for me (yea!). Total stats from the day (including the previous 5 miles on dirt roads until getting warned by hunters) = 18.5 miles, approx 4400 feet of gain.
Williamson - We parked on the Islip saddle and followed the PCT. Nice gain and great trail - navigation was clear and easy. Once we came to a fork in the trail, we continued up the ridge. As we were unsure where the actual peak was, we just basically hiked along the ridge to the very end and then back to the car. Total trip distance was approx 6 miles. Nice views and beautiful area!
