Ascent Trip ReportPart of the HPS Fall Festival
Leads: Peter & Ignacia Dogget, Christine Soskins.
Met up with Christine at the Mill Creek Ranger Station and we drove to the Heart Bar Campground off the 38 - at approx mile 33.5. Waited a few minutes for the other cars, and then drove 4.8 miles on the dirt road to the trail head. My Volvo made it just fine - bottomed out a few times, but took it slow. Would have prefered Nate's jeep, but it was okay.
Peak #2 in a 2-peak day (Three Sisters + Wysup Peak).
After lunch, we headed 100 feet down the road to the PCT and turned north on the PCT. Very nice, easy and beautiful trail with gradual elevation gain. After approx 45 minutes, we hit the turn off to Wysup Peak, marked by a few carins and a use trail. Steady uphill and we were at the summit approx 55 minutes after starting out. Spent maybe 10 or 15 minutes at the summit and then retraced our steps back to the cars. Really nice day and a great way to celebrate the fall festival with the HPS Sierra Club.
Total time out for the day was 5:51 and 11.8 miles. Moving time of 4:08.
This was peak #84 on the HPS list for me! Yea!!
