Ascent Trip Report

Did this one after summitting Lyon Mt. From Lyon's summit, I walked a herd path southwest to the nice ledge viewpoint overlooking Averill. Here the path pretty much ended but I was able to locate and follow a red-blazed/orange-flagged route which led down into the col then contoured around Averill's north flank. This route was basically a bushwhack since there was no path to follow but I never had a problem locating the next flag or blaze. A big thanks to whoever took the time to put it in. The route eventually comes out on the powerline about 700 feet and .7 miles below the summit. From the tower I descended to the east guy wire anchor where I picked up the red flagged route to the summit sign. Had to retrace the route from there back over Lyon to get back to my car.
