Ascent Trip ReportAnyone reading this will think I am an awful climber if I had an unsuccessful attempt on lowly Bible Point, but it is not as easy as you might think to locate the actual summit if you don't know exactly where it is. My mistake was when I tried an ascent from the YMCA Camp using the road. This eventually takes you to a saddle to the west of Emerald Mountain. I thought the summit of Bible Point was on the ridge to the west of this saddle. I was wrong. You must descend about 50 feet from the ridge and ascend a mound a little farther to the west. I climbed every highpoint on the ridge thinking that one of those had to be the summit of Bible Point. I was unaware of the fine trail that heads west from the stable at the YMCA Camp and leads directly to the summit. This is a nice little altitude conditioning hike for new arrivals at the YMCA. I reached the actual summit of Bible Point the next day after I learned about the trail.
