Ascent Trip Report

This hike couldn't have worked out any better. Every time I was bushwhacking and felt like there should be a trail - one appeared, going in the direction I needed. This was a great way to do Dorset and others and the others in the area.

10:00 - Parked at the end of Tower Rd as others had recommended.
10:08 - Began hiking (North-West). The trail to Dorset is actually a gravel road that turns into a well traveled ATV trail.
10:24 - Turned left onto very old logging road near fork in creak. Followed this around SE to hard bend right to the WNW. Followed further up and began bushwhack W to summit.
11:07 - Dorset Mountain-Southwest Summit. Quick pictures, then continued bushwhack N along ridge.
11:15 - Just pass the saddle, came to a picnic table in the woods on the ridge. Really??? These logging roads have not been used in years... Bushwhack went really well.
12:06 - Arrived at Dorset Mountain-West Peak summit. The canister was on the ground with multiple shotgun holes in it and the log was completely wet. I hung it back up, but needs to be replaced. Continued bushwhacking E across plateau and then descended down. I should have stayed more south out to the tip. Picked up ATV trail and followed back to the junction in the saddle.
13:00 - ATV/trail junction in the saddle. Followed ATV E.
13:05 - Right at the fork continuing up hill.
13:14 - Right onto herd path (trail) heading to the old fire tower.
13:17 - Fire tower. Followed ATV NE towards Dorset summit.
13:32 - Dorset Peak summit. Lunch and pictures with the famous jugs. (~8 mins)
13:40 - Depart Dorset peak.
13:46 - Left onto old ATV heading south towards netop. Things got a little sketchy on this trail as it was hard to follow. Kept heading in the correct compass direction and eventually found the main ATV trail. Followed it all along the ridge to netop.
14:42 - Netop Mountain-North Peak summit. Keep going...
14:58 - Netop Mountain Summit. Bushwhack N down and hopefully find a VAST trail that is on the map.. Nope. A very old logging road. Hard to follow. Eventually gave it up and just headed straight for the car as the woods were pretty open.
15:37 - Back at the car. Drive over to Stratton for hike 2 of the day.
