Ascent Trip Report

First climb of my Hike-a-thon. Four fire towers in two days. I started from home at 6:24 AM and traveled to Caroga and Canada Lake, NY. Good set of directions for this hike. hit the trail at 10:15 and was in the tower at 10:41, GPS gives me an altitude of 2223'. Left the summit at 11:00 and was back at the car 11:31 the GPS alt. was 1660' at the car, .8 for mileage but the vertical listed 1.34 for the distance. The sign at the trailhead labeled the hike as .5 miles and I was expecting a .9. It was short and sweet with a good tower to climb. No one else was there, a cabin damaged and open and a potential shelter from rain was there. I called home got a good connection, from the tower, and proceeded back to the car. Next stop Hadley.
