Ascent Trip ReportHike from the Firewarden's Trail to the col between Avery and West peak. Last mile was very steep, with what seemed like never ending stairs. The trail maintenance here is spectacular. From the col, ascended Avery Peak, passing the 2000 mile marker on the AT. Descended back to the col, and then walked the ridge on the AT up to West Peak (Called Bigelow in Peakbagger, for some reason. The sign at the summit calls it West Peak.) Continued in the southbound direction on the AT to bag the South Peak of The Horns, and then on to Horn Pond. Descended Horn Pond Trail back to the Firewarden's Trail, and then back to the car at the trailhead. Beautiful, sunny day, right up until it started to pour rain when we were about 1/4 mile from the car. Wonderful hike - would definitely do it again.
