Ascent of Rowe Mountain on 2013-08-22
|Date:||Thursday, August 22, 2013|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||13184 ft / 4018 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI was peakbagging from a camp at Lawn Lake and had summited Hagues and Rowe Peak. Between those two peak, I had to wait out a hail and lightning storm for 1 1/2 hours at the south end of the tarn in front of Rowe Glacier. From the summit of Rowe Peak it is a short 1/2 mile down climb to the summit ridgeline of Rowe Mountain. Unfortunately, there are several rocky highpoints protruding from this ridge of nearly equal height. From a distance, the cone-shaped elevation at the NE end of the ridge appeared to be the highest, but that is not what the topo map indicated and from its summit other points SW on the ridge looked higher. I ended up climbing them all in order to be sure I had bagged this peak, but I never located a summit cairn or register. From here it was a long 3 hours to return to my camp beside Lawn Lake, but the weather cooperated since it did not begin to rain until the moment I reached the protection of my tent.
