Ascent Trip ReportWe slept in the van in the overflow parking lot. Our climb started at 1:30 AM on the south side route. We hiked through the terrain park (followed the lip of the half pipe) and slowly made our way left toward the top of the ski lift. We continued up to the left of the Triangle Moraine before going around the right side of Crater Rock. We continued up the Hogsback to the lip of the Bergschrund before traversing left to the headwall and up Old Chute. Once on the summit ridge we carefully crossed the small cornices on the short but narrow section of the ridge. The ridge then widened for the remaining distance to the summit. We reached the summit at 9:30 AM. We took the same route back down. Though it likely wasn't necessary we used a rope as a hand line for the down climb on the headwall since the team was tired from Rainier and some team members had little crampon experience.
