Ascent Trip Report

We had just climbed McKenzie and Haystack, and had plans to finish our Saranac Lake 6ers on Ampersand the next morning, so we had to make the quick trip up Mt. Baker before it got dark. And quick it was, taking us only 1:05 for the entire thing. I liked how wide open this trail was going through the pine forests and even when we stepped off the trail in favor for catching a view, we were able to easily bushwhack our way down for a few minutes before coming onto the trail again. This would definitely be a great easy hike for someone starting to get into it. The weather was great, there were no bugs, and for the effort it's a pretty nice view.

This was the 5th Saranac Lake 6er for myself, Jax and Dave and also my 26th different peak of the year, making it exactly half of my goal of hiking 52 different mountains in 2013. Considering that we are in the 32nd week of the year, I'm only 6 off pace and am anxious to break 30.
