Ascent Trip Report

Distance: 18.0 miles Elevation gain/loss: 6201 ft / 6075 ft Moving time: 7:31 Moving speed: 2.4 mph

Hike affectionately known as CEBO includes Cucamonga Peak (8859'), Etiwanda Peak (8662'), Bighorn Peak (8441'), and Ontario Peak (8693'). Starts out from Icehouse Canyon trailhead and proceeds the 2600 ft up in 3.6 miles to Icehouse saddle where 5 different trails branch off. We continued on the Cucamonga Peak trail up the switchbacks (don't cut them!) to the use trail to the peak. From here we followed the use trail over the other side down to the main trail and on to Etiwanda where the is a use trail marked with a cairn or duck. Returning on the Cucamonga Peak train down to a small saddle at the bottom of the switchbacks with a lone christmas tree where we then followed an unmarked faint use trail straight up the very steep ridgeline of Bighorn Peak. From Bighorn down the usual Bighorn Peak trail to Ontario saddle and then up the ridgeline to Ontario Peak. Back down Ontario Peak trail through Kelly's Camp to Icehouse saddle and finally down Icehouse Canyon to the start with a quick stop to soak our feet in the icy waters of the creek. Perfect beautiful day sunny day in the 70's with a light breeze, fantastic views and a great group.

Only water available to filter is at Columbine Spring just 2.6 miles into the hike so bring a minimum of 4 liters of water.

Soak your feet in the creek in the last mile, that water is cold!
