Ascent Trip ReportWe were hiking in the Saranac Lake area on Sun. and Mon. and thought that while out there, we could knock out Arab really quickly to get both Dave and my dog Jax another firetower. Having done it before in the winter, it was nice to repeat it in the summer and get a totally different feel for it. There were 3 guys working on the trail in different places, moving and laying rocks over muddy sections. There was also someone at the summit with the observers cabin open and greeting visitors. I certainly hope that he saw several more people besides us today, even though it was a Monday. We made great time and were back at the truck in an hour. It's a nice, moderate climb throughout and has some great views for a little effort. |
