Ascent Trip Report3.4 miles from 421 to TH. Enroute Bulldog Road changes to Beaver Dam Road (probably when crossing into NC). Bear Track Lane is narrow and will get rough quickly. May be better to park on/along the hardtop Seasons Dr. At 0.15 miles Bear Track Lane splits. Take the track on the right. Both tracks go up to Vaught Gap, but the one to the right gets there quicker.
After making the left at the gap and walking on the ascending forest road for a half mile, I made a half left departing the forest road in a level area (3 surveyor tapes looped around a tree) and followed a faint track/trail to the left of the The Bald ridge. When the trail petered out I turned right and headed upslope, obtained the ridge and shortly thereafter the summit.
Probably a good idea to take a compass or gps. Not a lot of landmarks up there. On descent I got off course and intersected the forest road about a 1/4 mile further along than from where I had departed.
