Ascent Trip Report

(Day 2) Sunday morning we hit the trail at 5:20am, with an 18 mile hike ahead of us to get to the Upper Cathedral Lake basin and our camp for the night. Lots of downed trees in the Chewuch River Valley absolutely sucked! We took the Tungsten trail turn off after the make-shift repair to the washed out bridge over the Chewuch, this trail was much better as it traversed higher and out of the burn area. Arrived at Cathedral Pass at 2:20pm. We set up camp in the basin at an upper tarn and put the dogs in the tent, knowing the 4th class climbing wouldn't be very much fun for them or us with them. We headed for Cathedral at 4:30pm and made the top at 5:20pm, back to camp by 6:30pm.
